Deaf Youth Ministry of Texas

This ministry serves deaf students enrolled at Texas School for the Deaf in Austin. Pastor Mark Seeger serves this student population by providing Wednesday evening gatherings for Bible study, devotions, and refreshments. In the 2018-2019 school year 156 students were reached with the Good News: 49 middle school youngsters, 68 high school youth, and 39 college age students. The vast majority of these students have no church background and only two of last year’s group were Lutheran. For many, this ministry is likely the sole opportunity to be presented with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Deaf Youth Ministry of Texas is not subsidized by the LCMS or the Texas District, but is dependent on support from individuals and congregations such as ours. St. John supports this ministry by splitting our annual Mission Festival offering between Deaf Youth Ministry of Texas and West Texas Lutheran Campus Ministry.
